Can You Be 100% Sure

God Exists?

Some skeptics say,

I can’t believe in God because I can’t be 100% certain He exists.”

Fair enough. Certainty is nice.

But let’s be honest: do you live your life with 100% certainty about anything?

You don’t:

  • Personally check every brake and bolt before driving, but you trust the car will get you there.

  • Test every pill for chemical safety before taking it, but you trust the doctors and pharmacist.

  • Inspect every elevator cable before stepping in, but you trust it’ll get you to your floor safely.

  • Every day, we make decisions and take risks without absolute proof.

Now let’s consider a simple wager

Either God exists or He doesn’t. If He exists, you’ll spend eternity with Him—or without Him. If He doesn’t exist, you haven’t really lost anything significant.

So statistically speaking, there’s a 50% chance God exists. Now if you knew there was a 50% chance a plane would crash, you probably wouldn’t board. And if there were a 50% chance your child’s school might explode, you certainly wouldn’t send them there. Honestly, even a 5% chance would likely make you keep your child home.

So here’s the takeaway: wanting 100% certainty before believing is a luxury no one really has. Faith isn’t about perfect proof—it’s about making the best, life-giving bet with the information we do have. And if the evidence points strongly toward God’s existence, it’s a bet worth taking—just like you’d avoid a plane or a school with serious risks.
